about

Critical Mass was formed in 2010 as a "supergroup" of longtime collaborators with origins in the Iowa underground hip-hop scene. With a common goal of pushing boundaries and shining a light on their abundance of overlooked talent, each member brings a different flavor to the mix.
Lyrical .45 is a legendary battle rapper around Waterloo. He released the album "Lyrical Abuse", produced by No Relation, in 2006. Prior to that, he can be heard on the EP "The Return" from 2002 by the Rebel and Selo Project. Also a frequent collaborator with the Houston, TX MC SloMo, .45 plans more solo work in the future in addition to his work with Critical Mass.
Ahimsa is another longtime member of the CF/Waterloo scene, having been a member of "United Styles" before teaming up with No Relation to form AnR (AhimsaNoRelation). AnR were known for their frenetic live shows and Ahimsa's caustic delivery. He has since spent time honing his craft in Minneapolis and has recently relocated to California where he has begun collaborations with local MC's such as St. Charlez and ANWAR.
Cracka Don is best known for his edgy, humorous, and often unorthodox rhymes. Best known for his work as one half of the Joke Crackers along with producer Matty Matt, he has several solo credits to his name and has collaborated with many local artists throughout the years.
DJ No Relation is a veteran of many musical projects unconfined to the hip-hop world, but has found his niche as a go-to beatmaker among underground MC's. With too many credits to mention here, he is known for his musical ability and a signature dense and layered sound. No Relation is also currently the live DJ of budding local stars and old-school heroes Ill Convoy.
Erik Bjorn has been playing music over half his life and has collaborated with artists from all over the world in a variety of genres. His latest hobby, the turntable, has brought him back to his hip-hop roots. Renowned in the Iowa music scene, Bjorn adds his signature funk to the Critical Mass boulliabaise.
